I Think, Therefore I Am: Curriculum Development that Makes Thinking Visible
Description: This workshop trains educators on how to develop curriculum maps by building out the processes that make them experts in their respective content areas. Teachers will brainstorm the content specific knowledge and strategies that enable students to master content and meet evolving standards and objectives. At the end of the workshop, participants will be provided with a unit planning and curricula mapping tool that they can use to ensure that they are building content mastery in their students.

Reading to Learn vs. Learning to Read: Engaging Reading Strategies for Secondary Student Success
Description: This workshop demonstrates that teaching reading is just as important in the secondary grades as it is in the primary grades. The focus of this workshop is on how teachers of secondary content areas can built the expert schemata that students need in order to comprehend subject area texts. Participants will learn several reading strategies that they can use with their students to increase comprehension of subject area texts, and allow students to grapple and engage with complex material.

The Golden Ratio: Less of Us + More of Them = A Student Centered Classroom
Description: This workshop will describe four different types of instructional ratios, and reflect on how to improve instructional plans by finding the right balance of ratios to increase student engagement and educational outcomes. Participants will also be trained on our student centered lesson planning model, and learn activities that they can use to balance their ratios and actively engage students. The workshop will also explore how video can be used as a powerful instructional tool for reflecting on practice and improving classroom instruction.
